Danny Wills has explained his return back to the water after bursting his eardrum before Trestles:
"I didn't just burst it, I've basically blown it apart. I've had problems with Surfers Ear for a while, and it turned out it was a bony growth blocking my eardrum, and actually acting as my eardrum, until it exploded.
"I'm only surfing my heats or if it's really good, I've got to be real careful, I've got to plug it up, and put in about ten different types of drops to put in there in a specific order.
"It'll have to be operated on and there's no word yet on whether it'll be 100% percent again, but I'm back in the water again at least in my heats now, so I'm pretty stoked, and I've brought a skateboard here to France for the downtime."
