In season there's often over 100 surfers in the water here, either looking for tubes rivaling those of Hossegor or simply something to surf when everywhere else is flat. Walking south towards 'Les Dunes' may yield good results in either quest. The spot regularly hosts large international contests. The Basque Coast's chic city beach receives less swell than Anglet but handles a very large variety of conditions. Rocks on the south part of the beach contribute to the beauty of the site while shaping the banks and blocking S winds. On the downside crowds, bathing zone restrictions and difficult, expensive car parking spoil the experience, unless you surf at night under the boardwalk lights!
